A few months ago I posted a blog about Sharreace. We decided to do a second shoot to show her in her element this time. We did the shoot at Dizzy On Vinyl a vintage record store in Long Beach. We had quite a few good laughs about some of the sweet tunes we used to listen too. I think my favorite is the "2 legit 2 quit" album she is holding in one of the images.
Last week I had the good pleasure of photographing my friend Sharreace. She is one of those friendly souls that everyone loves to be around. She has a unique ability for bringing artists together to share ideas and unite for a cause.
The last few years she has been discovering and embracing a gifting and passion for the arts. We actually met through an artist mixer that she helps organize called Long Beach Creative. Her most recent endeavor is called SolShock, a business and resource for promoting artistry and musicians.
What I love most about Sharreace is that it's only been in the last few years that she has let her inner artist come to life. She felt so strongly about her call to pursue art that she quit her corporate job to do art full time.
I relate to her story in so many ways. The small mid-western town I grew up in didn't encourage or embrace anything about the arts except for maybe singing...in the church choir. It wasn't until my early twenties that I discovered photography and a love for the arts. Deciding to do it full time has been one of the best decisions of my life so far. That being said, follow your passions, and don't let fear of failure stand in the way!
I looked for a location for at least two hours before the shoot to find just the right spot and ended up using shooting in the barn across the street. The tree shots came right at the end when I thought we were done. I love it when things like this reveal themself at the last moment.
